Microsoft 365 email works well on iPhone using either the Outlook app or the built-in Apple Mail app. For most business users, the Outlook mobile app is the simplest and most reliable option because it supports modern authentication and Microsoft security prompts properly.
Recommended method: Outlook app
- Install Microsoft Outlook from the App Store.
- Open Outlook and tap Add Account.
- Enter your Microsoft 365 email address.
- Sign in using your Microsoft password.
- Approve MFA if prompted.
- Allow notifications if required.
Using Apple Mail
- Open iPhone Settings.
- Go to Mail, then Accounts.
- Choose Add Account.
- Select Microsoft Exchange.
- Enter your email address and sign in.
- Approve any Microsoft authentication request.
Common issues
- Incorrect password or old saved credentials.
- MFA prompt not approved.
- User does not have a valid Microsoft 365 licence.
- Old IMAP account still exists on the phone.
- DNS/autodiscover is not configured correctly.
Best practice
If you have migrated from cPanel email, remove the old mail account from the phone after confirming Microsoft 365 is fully working. Keeping both accounts can confuse users because old and new mail may appear separately.
