I Can Receive Email But Cannot Send Print

  • 0

If you can receive email but cannot send, the mailbox itself usually exists and incoming mail routing is working. The problem is normally related to SMTP settings, authentication, blocked ports, password problems, SSL settings or the device/mail client configuration.

Most common causes

  • The outgoing SMTP server is incorrect.
  • The email app is not using SMTP authentication.
  • The username is not the full email address.
  • The mailbox password is wrong or has been changed.
  • The wrong outgoing port is being used.
  • Your internet provider is blocking port 25.
  • The mailbox has been restricted due to suspicious sending.

Recommended outgoing settings

In most cases, use your full email address as the username. The outgoing server will normally be your mail server hostname or mail.yourdomain.com depending on your account setup. Use SSL/TLS where possible.

  • SMTP port 465 with SSL, or
  • SMTP port 587 with STARTTLS/TLS.

Avoid port 25 unless specifically instructed, as many providers block it to reduce spam.

Step-by-step checks

  1. Confirm the mailbox password by logging into webmail.
  2. Check the outgoing SMTP server name.
  3. Make sure the username is the full email address.
  4. Enable authentication for outgoing mail.
  5. Try port 465 with SSL.
  6. If that fails, try port 587 with TLS/STARTTLS.
  7. Restart the mail app and test again.

If the problem continues

Open a support ticket and include the email address affected, the device or app being used, the exact error message and whether webmail can send successfully. This helps us separate a server issue from a device configuration issue.
